  1. Great summary of the new film–I completely agree! It was a fun outing, and really let the characters shine. To me, it felt like a super-sized episode of the Original Series, and that was great.

    • “To me, it felt like a super-sized episode of the Original Series, and that was great.”

Yes, that’s exactly how I felt about it. An extended episode, except with a budget larger than every episode of the entire original series combined (I am sure, though I have not verified that) and told through a modern lens.

Star Trek Beyond was, in many ways, perfect! As a fan of the classic characters, I really couldn’t be happier. I did, however, dock a couple of reviewpoints in the “Story” category because I felt that the villain, Krall, though well-played by Idris Elba, could have been better developed – particularly in terms of his motivation.

      Thanks for commenting!

      • I agree about the villain. Idris Elba was great, as always, but I felt they could have done a lot more with the character, especially since he had such an interesting backstory and motivation for his actions. They could have done more to flesh all of that out. However, it was a great adventure overall! Also, thanks for checking out my review!
