  2. Excellent list Troy!! Although I have to admit I was a little disappointed that my favorite 70’s ballad PIECES OF MY LIFE was much lower on your list than I had hoped, I was completely surprised at your number one choice of ALWAYS ON MY MIND from “This Is Elvis”. Definitely a worthy choice to top your list!! I also couldn’t help but chuckle at your logjam of material from 1970 around the top 20!! (-:

All in all, a very well crafted list my friend and although as you said, this is just your opinion, I have to say that this is a fine top-100 list!! Well done my friend!!

    • “Logjam”…I love it! And that’s exactly what it was. Certain songs I find to be so close in terms of quality that it was extremely difficult to choose one over the other. I think those 1970 songs were definitely the biggest logjam. I really wanted all of them higher on the list, too, but there was nothing above them I could take out. Elvis was just too great!

      • I know what you mean! I’ve tried compiling these type of lists before for messageboards or just for my own personal satisfaction and usually had to give up because I just couldn’t ever find a list I was completely satisfied with!

Some of the selections you made were interesting in that you chose alternate versions over the originals…I LOVE your choice of take 2 of YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE! That extra addition of the chorus at the end is just OUTSTANDING!! Although I personally don’t care for the undubbed master of PROMISED LAND, seeing it chosen on your list shows that you really thought outside the box on some of your selections, which also makes your list quite unique!

All in all, a job well done my friend! I’m curious to see though…when the 40th anniversary rolls around, how much of your current list will be the same at that time or what changes will you make??

        TCB my friend!
