The future begins (Star Trek XI movie news roundup, 1/22/2008)

For those of us who missed seeing Cloverfield over the weekend, the official teaser trailer for Star Trek (AKA Star Trek XI) hit the web yesterday. The best place to view it is probably over at the official movie site, though you can also find it at Yahoo.com and other sites.

I am definitely impressed by the teaser trailer. I loved the use of audio clips from John F. Kennedy, the flight of John Glenn, and the first landing on the moon. Given the holiday weekend in which this trailer made its debut, I nearly expected to hear a Martin Luther King, Jr., clip in there, too. His dream certainly fits right in with the Star Trek vision of the future.

Of course, the highlight of the teaser is seeing our beloved Enterprise under construction. She was apparently built on the ground, just the first of many new treats that J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movie will present to us fans. So far, every indication is that Star Trek is finally in great hands again.
