Indy IV begins filming this summer, really!

The Film Frontier is not exactly first to bring you this news, but it certainly warrants a mention here. I did not jump on this right away because it is a story that crops up every year and then fades away.

This time, though, it seems it will actually happen. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg announced last week that the fourth Indiana Jones movie, starring Harrison Ford, will begin filming in June. June 2007. This June.

Produced by Lucasfilm Ltd. and scheduled for release in May of 2008 by Paramount Pictures, Indy IV was written by David Koepp (Jurassic Park, Spider-Man) and does not yet have an official title. As with the first three entries in the franchise, Spielberg is directing.

“I’m delighted to be back in business with my old friends,” said Harrison Ford on the official Indy site. “I don’t know if the pants still fit but I know the hat will.”

The last Indy movie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, was released in 1989.
