“Star Trek IV” celebrates twenty years

Twenty years ago today, on November 26, 1986, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home arrived in theaters and quickly became the surprise hit of the holiday season. The first and only Star Trek movie to break the $100 million mark, Star Trek IV featured a pair of humpback whales named George and Gracie, as well as the debut of the Enterprise-A.

The only Star Trek movie to reach a significant cross-over audience of non-fans, Star Trek IV was written by Nicholas Meyer and Harve Bennett, and directed by Leonard Nimoy.
