In celebration of today’s 40th anniversary of the first airing of Star Trek, tonight also marks the debut of Star Trek on the TV Land cable network.
As a 40th anniversary tribute, TV Land is airing a four episode mini-marathon–including “The Man Trap,” which was the episode that first aired on September 8, 1966. Note that these will be the original versions of the episodes, not the forthcoming 2006/2007 remastered versions.
Here is the TV Land schedule for tonight’s Star Trek 40th anniversary special:
8 PM: “The Man Trap” (original air date: September 8, 1966)
9 PM: “The City on the Edge of Forever” (April 6, 1967)
10 PM: “The Trouble with Tribbles” (December 29, 1967)
11 PM: “Plato’s Stepchildren” (November 22, 1968)
(All times Eastern, check your local listings)
The remastered episodes of the original series, with new effects, begin airing in syndication on September 16.
The original versions of the classic Star Trek episodes become part of TV Land’s regular schedule in November. The originals will also continue to air on the G4 network.
