“Superman Returns” up to $142 million after 2nd weekend

Superman Returns took in another $22 million in its second weekend of release, bringing its total box office take so far up to $142 million. As expected, the movie fell to second place due to the record-breaking performance of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest which opened this week.

Superman Returns continues to be on pace with or ahead of the performances of such recent box office successes as Batman Begins, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, and Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring.
